Common Ground Works

Over 2019 and 2020 Laguna Collective collaborated with the organization In My Backyard (IMBY) in Amsterdam. IMBY aims to promote connectedness between refugees with a recent resident permit and current residents of Amsterdam. We supported IMBY in developing a relevant theoretical framework and a methodical approach.

The method is focused on personal development and mutual connectedness, and is called ‘Common Ground Works’. In 2020, pilot implementation took place in four different groups (see under News). Systematic evaluation resulted in a final protocol. CGW is also suitable for application in other (non-refugee) groups willing to reflect on elements contributing to a feeling of identity and one’s view on others.
